Who We Are
How the questions are made
Written against the occupational standard, checked before they ship
Every question is written against that trade's current published Red Seal Occupational Standard. Each bank is organised into this site's own study topics, so its balance is not matched to the official question distribution, which Red Seal publishes on each trade's exam information page.
What is checked: all 1,688 questions carry a written explanation and a one-line key concept — not just the correct letter. Banks are also scanned for duplicate questions, for answers that could be read two ways, and for an answer key that drifts toward one position.
This site exists because free, comprehensive Red Seal practice questions that actually match the exam format and each trade's current Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS) were hard to find. Most of what is available is paywalled, outdated, or too generic to be useful.
So this one was built, and it stays free for every apprentice in Canada.
Our Mission
Every Canadian skilled trades apprentice deserves access to high-quality study materials — regardless of where they live or how much they can afford to spend on prep materials.
Organised by Topic
Questions are grouped by this site's own topic areas for each trade. They are not one-to-one with the official Major Work Activities; each trade page shows the official exam breakdown from red-seal.ca.
Always Free
No paywalls, no sign-up required, no credit card. Quality exam prep should be accessible to every apprentice.
Real Explanations
Every answer includes a full explanation — the kind of reasoning that actually helps you understand the concept, not just memorize it.
Regularly Updated
Practice questions are reviewed and expanded regularly. We track changes to the RSOS and update content accordingly.

How We Create Our Questions
All practice questions on this site are created using the following sources and methodology:
- Red Seal Occupational Standards (RSOS) — the official national standard for each trade, and the exam breakdown published for it on red-seal.ca
- Codes and technical references — the codes, standards and safety rules each explanation relies on, named in the explanation where they apply
- Scenario-based items — many questions are written as practical job situations rather than definitions, because the exams also test procedure and critical thinking
- Error reports and audits — anyone can report a question through the Contact page, and the banks are re-audited against these sources; a question whose answer fails the check is removed rather than patched, and an error in an explanation is corrected
Corrections since the September 2026 audit are listed with their dates, by trade, on the question bank updates page.
Important: These practice questions are designed for study purposes and are not official exam questions. They are checked against the sources above, but cross-reference them with the official RSOS documents and your provincial apprenticeship authority.
Official Resources
This site is an independent study resource and is not affiliated with the Red Seal Program, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), or any provincial apprenticeship authority.
For official exam registration and information:
- red-seal.ca — Official Red Seal Program site (CCDA)
- Your provincial apprenticeship office (SkilledTradesBC, Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training, Skilled Trades Ontario, etc.)
All practice questions are for educational purposes only. This site does not guarantee exam success. Results depend on individual study effort and preparation.
